The banks of Ribeira do Porto and Gaia are preparing themselves to receive an international competition. The F1 Powerboat World Championship arrives at the Invicta city July 31st and runs until August 2nd. Oporto and Gaia are the ideal setting to watch this spectacular competition, which has been gaining more and more followers all over the planet.
This event marks the return of the Portugal Grand Prix to the International Powerboating Union's calendar. After 13 consecutive editions in Portimão, the last being in 2011, Douro will debut itself at the 14th Grand Prix of Portugal, becoming a track about 2,000 meters long, between the Alfândega building and D. Luís I bridge, where 18 riders from 14 nationalities will compete in boats that reach speeds close to 240 km/h.
With the action taking place very close to the spectators, the banks of Ribeira do Porto and Gaia will be the ideal scenery to watch this spectacular competition, which has been gaining more and more followers all over the planet.
In addition, on the evening of Saturday, August 1st, an event of the Aquabike World Championship, with the presence of the 16 best world specialists of Jet Ski in the category of "Paralel slalom".
The Portuguese stage in the F1 Powerboat World Championship will be the third of eight races that make up the 2015 World Championship (the biggest since 2010) and one of the two to be held this year in Europe, along with the similarly new Évian les Bains stage.
